Work
This is a selection of the work I've produced. Some of my pieces are custom orders, and others are available for purchase. Where the original has sold, I may have prints available on Etsy.
About
I'm Emmi, I'm a junior doctor based in Devon, UK. Before my medical degree, I completed a degree in biomedical sciences. I started embroidering in 2014 and have slowly built my skill and techniques since then. I create hand-embroidered pieces with a focus on science, particularly anatomy, but I also explore outside of this.GETTING STARTED
It all started when I was applying to university and I wanted to showcase my flare for art, which was quite broad because until then I hadn't found a specific medium I enjoyed above others. At the same time, I discovered some beautiful, textured oil paintings and wanted to try creating art that had a richness to it. I only knew how to do two simple stitches, but decided to attempt embroidery... and I loved it. I have taught myself since then through trial and error and have slowly experimented with different techniques, stitches and original designs.SELLING
I put my first piece on sale in 2017, but have sold/donated most of my work over the years. I've also recently discovered art prints and stickers, which are a useful way of making my work more affordable, available and accessible. You can find any work I'm selling here.OPPORTUNITIES
Unlike many other artists, embroidery has always been a side gig for me between university, work and motherhood (this is why my custom orders aren't always open!) Having said that, I take this 'hobby' quite seriously. I'm lucky in that some amazing opportunities have come knocking on my door - e.g. art competitions related to my degree, writing a project for a stitching magazine and being featured in Colossal! I'm always up for collaborations and branching out, just drop me a line.
